I have shaved exclusively with electric shavers my entire adult life. A bit of a ritual, but I always buy the new top of the line Norelco as soon as it becomes available. I currently have the 9195XL and the James Bond Spectra shavers. I pre-ordered this on Amazon and was anxious to get it as it clearly is a major departure from Norelco's typical styling. It arrived completely dead which I thought a bit odd, but charging it was the another first. No cord plugs into the bottom, it has two small round electrical contacts the size of ball bearings, one on each side. It charges in its stand or the travel case, a nice touch. The new head arrangement pivots FAR more than any prior model and it really hugs the contours of your face and neck.
It is relatively quiet, shaves VERY fast and very close with no irritation. It is also extremely easy to clean. Each cutter/comb assembly hinges up, but remains attached to the head making it very easy to rinse out without worrying about the cutters and combs separating from one another. Since the whole head assembly must be replaced to get new cutters, I suspect that part will command a premium. The protective head guard will not come off until you physically remove it, another Norelco first.
Great Shaver, Reasonably Priced

I love this shaver. It does such a great job and it's fun to use. The quality is amazing. I wondered how they could charge so much but now I see. Below are the comments I have on the unit:
- Shave: The Shave is great. It's close and does a great job on the neck. I can get under my nose easier with the small rounded shave heads. The heads do still "float". They all move up and down to follow the contours of your face. I skipped shaving for 3 days and it still did a good job when I finally shaved. It took a bit longer but it made it through.
- Style: It is so cool. I hold it almost like a pencil. I am then able pull my face tight with the other hand and get a great shave. It looks really good sitting on the counter in the stand. I keep the plastic head protector on it while it is in the stand.
- Quality: This model is really solid and well made. It has weight to it. The readout tells you the minutes left on the charge and reminds you to clean it. The long hair trimmer works well and is out of the way.
The little stand has suction cups to keep it secure on the bathroom counter. You just plug the cord into the side of the stand and it charges through two contact points on the side.
- Break in: I was already using an electric razor and it still took 4 days for me to get used to it. I got a slight rash and was a little sore. This isn't exclusive to the arcitec. My last 2 razors did the same thing.
- Cleaning: You have to brush out the heads after every shave. It only takes 15 seconds. Each head pops open individually. I pop all three open, grab the little brush they give you and brush it out into the sink. You can clean it with water too, but I haven't tried that. I like it so much I don't want to get it wet! I used to let the hair build up in my last shaver and only empty once in a while. I can see now this impacted the quality of shave I was getting.
The Best Shaver I've Tried Thus Far

I'm not really an electric shaver type of guy. I've used razors for the longest time and recently, about half a year, I've simply been using a beard and mustache trimmer. No more irritation and you can easily use it in the shower. That being the case I was a little hesitant to try an electric shaver since I know, from past experience, that if you're not used to them you'll usually experience irritation. In the end I was quite surprised that after using this shaver, aside from giving me the closest and smoothest shave I've ever experienced from an electric shaver, there was no sign of any irritation.
Shaving was quick and I didn't have the need to go over the same area again and again. The shaver looks great, charging it only takes one hour, it's easy to use, fits in my hand quite well, gives a very close shave, but as can be expected, will only work with hair that isn't too long. I'm quite happy with it and will definitely be using it more often from now on. Highly recommend it, this one I believe is worth the money!
