Any person that has to shave on a regular basis knows one thing - shaving is not a fun experience. The nicks and the cuts that can come from running any type of razor across your face, the way it feels to find yourself at the mercy of something with an evil little battery that may/ may not love you back; the world of product evolution has gone so far and yet still had so many downfalls. As far as the Norelco Arcitec 1090 goes, I see so much of what I've always wanted in a shaver and see so much of that so-called progression without the pitfalls involved.
The way the heads move to catch those hard-to-reach places, the ease of cleaning that takes only a little water and even reminds me when I need to put in work, and so many more things. I also liked the fact that the razor has a little logo on it that shows a facet, telling you to clean out the system when it needs it. It is REALLY EASY to open, really easy to clean out, and really easy to wash. All you have to have is a couple of minutes, a little water, and an appreciation for a great shave. I am o-soooo-glad I picked this up and am really happy with the results it creates. It is the best item I have ever used on my face, by and far, and will never return to the fold of other tri-headed razors. It comes HIGHLY recommended and then some.

I don't want to take up your time reiterating the 1090's pros and cons which have been reported by the Amazonians who have reviewed it before me. Instead, I'd like to make a few points that haven't been mentioned very often or at all. Norelco wants you to use this shaver for 3 weeks before you decide whether you like it or not. According to them, your skin and beard require that much time to adjust to the 1090. I urge you to follow their advice. I'm not sure if it's entirely a matter of one's face adapting to the new shaving implement or, rather, the hand learning the proper way to move and press and position it, or a combination of the two. But I can tell you that the first few times I used it, I was not impressed with either closeness or comfort. However, now that the 3 week try-out is over, I get a nice, close shave - the equivalent of that from the triple-blade disposable I had been using before. And with very little irritation - just a bit of numbness that disappears by the time I've showered (I don't use aftershave). The 1090 costs a *lot* of money.
I recommend that you investigate the 1050 as well. It will save you 70 or 80 bucks and the shaver is virtually the same. The business end is identical - you can tell this because they both take the same RQ10 replacement head. The primary difference is that with the 1050, you don't get the "Power Pod". This is a hard-shelled storage case with built in recharger - a useful accessory is you travel, but unnecessary if you don't.
The only other meaningful difference, as far as I can tell, is that the LCD of the 1050 shows remaining charge as a percent of maximum, rather than as minutes remaining. When fully charged, the 1090 can deliver 65 minutes of shaving time. Norelco says that this represents 3 weeks of shaves, but you don't have to be a math wizard to figure out that this means about 3 minutes per shave. I find that it takes me about 5 to 6 minutes per shave. That would translate to somewhere between 11 and 13 shaves. As long as I can go more than a week without needing to recharge, I think that's sufficient.

Let me just say this razor is awesome! After about a week of use I am pleased with its performance. I used it every day for a week to wonderful success. Then I didn't shave over the weekend. I had no problems when I finally shaved,it was just as close and only took a couple more minutes. Most shaves were about three minutes in duration, this mornings was about five. One of my favorite features is the fact that you can just rinse the razor off,No cleaning solutions to run out of!
I have sensitive skin and am prone to breakout. I found this razor to be more gentle than expected with no irritation. I have used electric razors for about 12 years,buying a new one about every 2 years. Norelco has always been a favorite of mine and this razor is no exception. Is this razor expensive? Yes but it is top quality and I personally am willing to pay (within reason) for a close comfortable shave from a razor that is made to last. I would recommend this to anyone! If I had to pick one thing to change about this razor that would be to make it a wet/dry but other than that it is a fantastic,easy to use razor. Great product Norelco!
